Writing articles for the internet is vastly different than writing for any other medium. The chief problem is tone and behavior of readers on the internet. People are different when on the web. They instantly become experts, political analysts, and even the avoided "keyboard warrior" whose anger issues devastate many an experience. What we need to learn is how to gain credibility and trust quickly while maintaining quality.
Short is sweet
If your a old hand of internet forums and other social sites you will often see walls of text talking about a easily resolved problem. You never actually read those do you? In this wikipedia and google age where speed is king you need to learn how to write short concise articles that get info out easily. These articles should not be over 1000 words long and have to be around 600-700 words. So if it is possible to delete a word or cut down a sentence do it. Write for the reader not to stroke your ego. Think of them short attention span impatient people who need their info right now. Be quick this is not English class and you do not need to spice it up to get to the topic. Research shows that net surfers scan pages before they read anything, meaning they may skim right past your article if it doesn't keep their attention.
Use compelling authoritative web headlines
A commanding headline summarizes what the majority of the text below explains and makes it easier to notice and more likely that it will be read. For example, potential readers will have to wade through hundreds of articles before they notice yours. A good article marketing strategy is to write amazing headlines that will hold the person and make them read it. Headlines should be brief like the content, they do not have to be long. But never be indirect and cute, most of the time that type of heading will have nothing to do with your subject those articles sometimes have little to do with the speaking point. A good article marketing strategy is to use bold powerful words and be direct and to the point. And use subheads like I do. Subheadings highlight what the customer should gain from the article. It also serves as a hook to the reader to keep them reading.
split into subsections
Paragraphs make sure that the arrangement of the article is suitable for web reading. There aren't many rules that describe a paragraph. It all rests on the tone your taking and the topic that your writing about. Different kinds of writing demand different paragraph structure. Essays have longer paragraph lengths and if you write like an essayist the reader will not read your work. The rules for online writing are still being outlined but one thing is for certain do not write a lot. But a good article marketing strategy is to write enough to get your point across and then start another paragraph.
Write simple sentences
You’re not trying to win a Pulitzer prize. Long, complex sentences, which may read very nicely, will often seem unfriendly onscreen. They can sidetrack your readers from reading your article. Keep it short and to the point. However, do not use very short sentences. There is nothing wrong with short sentences or fragments. They provide weight and bolden the article. But do not write them whenever or people will not take your seriously.
Ultimately do the following
Write brief articles.
Write brief paragraphs.
Write interesting titles and headlines.
